Mexico: Reconstructing Home

Artist: Miguel Angel Mejia

Mar. 30 - June 15, 2019

When Mexico is brought up in conversation, negative images and stereotypes are associated with it. Drug cartels, corruption, violence, and poverty are thought to go hand in hand with the country. With these ideas in mind, it is easy to forget what truly makes Mexico a beautiful nation. Mexico is full of welcoming people, a rich culture, and contrast.

With an interest in the rawness and spontaneity of street photography, Mejia seeks to find and capture the everyday life in Mexico as he remembers it and knows it exists. Through his work, he is determined to unveil the people of Mexico and portray them in a more accurate light.
